Both the 1947 original and the 1994 remake are worthy additions to our list. Thumbs up to director George Seaton‘s 1947 timeless classic. The remake is entirely respectable, thanks to Richard Attenborough who brings a certain sense of majesty to the role of Kris Kringle; it’s hard to imagine a better casting. As in the original film, Santa has to stand trial and prove that he is indeed this mythical figure. The 1947 film won 3 Academy Awards; Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Edmund Gwenn), Best Writing, Original Story (Valentine Davies) and Best Writing, Screenplay. It was also nominated for Best Picture Oscar.
