Vampire Video Games: The Best 5

Number 2

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

This is the Castlevania game that would change the direction of the series for the next decade. Symphony gave us two great things; Alucard, a character we have wanted to helm a Castlevania since the third game and amazing rpg gameplay sprinkled in with the classic gameplay of Castlevania. Alucard has a huge castle to explore (twice, if you know what I mean) and a torrent of cool gear, ability granting artifacts and magic familiars to find. This game also had a classic Castlevania story replete with cheesy voice acting and melodrama; “a miserable pile of secrets”. This is arguably the best game in the series and until Lords of Shadow is released it’s the only Castlevania to allow you to play as a vampire for the main story. OH and holy shit, ALUCARD IS DRACULA BACKWARDS.

Number 1

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines

Holy @#*! That is a mouthful. This is by far the best vampire game ever because it allows you to actually role-play what might be the ‘day to day’ or ‘night to night’ rather of a vampire’s reality. This game is like if True Blood had sex with Dues Ex and produced some unholy offspring. This game was way ahead of its time and unfortunately didn’t do well on release because it was competing with Half Life 2 and it had a lot of bugs. The game creates its drama against the backdrop of modern LA and allows you to choose from one of 8 vampire clans to experience the story. Bloodlines has its problems but its focus on story and atmosphere rock it to the top of this list. It also has prostitutes AND MORE VAMPIRE SEX.
