15. Respawn Entertainment Game – Titan
Respawn Entertainment has been surrounded by controversy from day one. Co-Founders Vince Zampella and Jason West are largely credited for creating Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare when they where the heads of Infinity Ward. When they left the company to form Respawn Entertainment they took 38 Infinity Ward employees with them. What followed was an absolutely ridiculous amount of legal battles between Infinity Ward and the newly formed independent developer. During these legal battles Jason West left Respawn to take care of some family issues. Besides that, all that is known about the tight-lipped company is that they are partnered with EA and are working on a new IP. Rumors suggest that the new game (codenamed Titans) will be a competitive, multiplayer only, AAA title for the XBOX One. I honestly don’t quite know how to feel about this. There is one side of me that wants to say that Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare was one of the greatest multiplayer shooting games ever. The other side of me is hesitant to endorse a multiplayer only exclusive game. In this day and age when every game is putting a bigger emphasis on multiplayer, story is falling by the wayside and that breaks my gaming heart.
So that’s it. That is my predication for the 15 exclusive games that will be coming to the XBOX One in its first year. It is important to note that despite the excitement of what games may be coming to the XBOX One, it is equally important to consider how we will be playing these games. I personally think mandatory game installs mixed with a cloud-based system is not such a bad idea. I don’t mind waiting for the installs, if it leads to a better gaming experience. However, by limiting my ability to lend my game to my friends I feel like Microsoft is dampening my experience. The games and how those games will be played will be the driving force behind me purchasing an XBOX One. Personally Microsoft has a lot to prove to me and that is why I cannot wait until E3.
