Pure Speculation: XBOX One’s 15 Exclusive Games Part 2

9. XBLA/Arcade Game – Twisted Pixel Game – Maybe Loco Cycle

XBOX Live Arcade (XBLA) is one of the best features of the XBOX online experience. It is hard to imagine the next generation console not having an arcade game market. Twisted Pixel is best known for their XBLA smash hit Splosion Man. As a first party developer for Microsoft Studios it seems a logical conclusion that something is in the pworks. They are currently working on Loco Cycle for the XBLA but that doesn’t mean they can’t transfer the title or something similar to the new arcade market in the XBOX One. Regardless of what the title is, we should go in to E3 expecting a next gen arcade experience. How this experience will integrate with the host of other announced and unannounced features may lead to a revolutionary arcade experience.

10. Rare’s Historic IP – Killer Instinct 3

Rare has made some of the best games of the last few generations. In 2002 Microsft purchased the developer and in 2012 they renewed the trademark for the head to head fighter Killer Instinct. Many rumors have been circulating that Rare will be showing off a historic IP during E3. I personally believe this will either be Killer Instinct 3 or a new Banjo-Kazooie game and not a new Perfect Dark. Why? Killer Instinct is a head to head fighter and Banjo-Kazooie is a platformer, both much-needed genres on the new console. Microsoft is very much following an inclusive strategy and targeting all different types of entertainment for the family. Perfect Dark was just recently re-released on for the XBLA and a sequel would be competing in a super saturated market alongside Call of Duty Ghosts, Battlefield 4, possibly Halo 5 and the much rumored Rare FPS.

11. Rare’s New IP – FPS

Job postings last year on Rare’s website pointed toward working on multiple AAA IP’s for future console releases. This included creating a new IP and listed the ideal candidate having experience in the Action/Adventure or FPS genre. This led to a rash of rumors last year that Rare would be showing off multiple games at this year E3. Personally I like this idea because even though I mentioned the FPS genre is super saturated, a new console deserves a new FPS. And that is what would differentiate a new Perfect Dark from a new FPS from Rare. Perfect Dark was recently re-released as a XBLA game. So coming out with a new game this early after the re-release would not get the nostalgia sales many think it would. As more and more gamers start considering COD and Battlefield as a standard for their expectations of gaming they need something new to get excited about. Another rumor that could be linked to this is the existence of a new zombie IP for XBOX One. Is this Microsoft’s answer to PlayStations highly anticipated The Last of Us?
