What are your thoughts on the next-generation? Are you team PS4, Xbox One or PC and why?

Kody
“I was always a hardcore Nintendo fan boy but after purchasing an XBOX 360 when Mirror’s Edge released I was brought into the Microsoft camp for a long time. Currently, I’m rooting hard for PS4. They seem to be a company that cares about gamers, but in all honesty they probably only care about the money. Why be a business otherwise? XBOX One execs flip-flopped hardcore on the DRM issue and always on internet thing. Hard to trust a company like that. I don’t play enough PC games, aside from Minecraft to form a good opinion but w00t team Mojang, haha. So, I guess team PS4. But I want to wait and see the quality of production and content before I go purchasing one or the other.”

How do you see your own future in gaming art, or what do you hope to achieve in the realm of gaming art?

Kody
“My own future? Tough question. Art is so subjective it’s hard to say whether or not my stuff will continue to be anything nearing popular in the next year or five. Changing with the times has always been hard for me. So, we’ll see if people still like my stuff a little later down the road. I’d like to start travelling to more conventions and getting my name out a little bit more to people who may not have stumbled on my art on the internet. As far as achievements I’d really like to get into art advertising for the gaming industry. Working with words and creating ads that are pleasing to look at for companies like Nintendo and Microsoft and Sony. That would be a big deal to me.”

What is your favourite piece of artwork that you have done?

Kody
“It changes nearly daily, haha! The one I’m most proud of is probably my Mario Typography. But currently I like my Portal Potty piece the best. I find it funny.”

Who are your favourite artists and why?

Kody
“David Schwen — creating visual puns. What’s not to love? Alex Ross — comic book painter. Holy cow the patience and technique. Stanley Lau — does a fantastic job of creating comic book ideas and bringing them into reality. Coran Kizer Stone — a deviantArtist I like. Cronobreaker — another deviantArtist that I draw a lot of inspiration from.”
