Other Clones that didn’t make the cut: Losers

Dungeon Siege 3

DS3 for what it is isn’t a bad game. It tells a pretty predictably bad story, and gives you a ton of locations to smack the shit outta baddies. Unfortunately it makes two cardinal sins amongst the clones; the loot is absolute shit and the multiplayer just doesn’t work at all. Despite the facts it is still moderately fun….if your idea of fun in an RPG equates to 10 hours of gameplay.

Path of Exile

This game isn’t out yet, but hardcore Diablo fans should watch this one closely. Its a free to play, and it features one of the most skill trees I have ever seen. It’s huge, it’s the same for each character (there are 5) and it allows you to go any direction with anyone. Whoa.

Mythos

Mythos was made by the Torchlight team long ago and the game tanked. It’s free to play model was a little too ahead of its time and the game was quickly sold off to a Korean publisher. Its still around but it ain’t no Torchlight.

Lionheart Legacy of the Crusader

This game is ashamed to bear resemblance to Diablo, this was the last game by Black Isle. A developer known for amazing CRPGs.Lionheart was intended to be a classic RPG but turned into Diablo halfway through, Diablo with mechanics meant for dungeons and dragons, obviously it utterly fails.

Harbinger

Diablo in space, well …not quite. This game features a cool concept and some great artwork but the truth is it just isn’t deep enough as an action game or an RPG to keep your attention. It’s fun, but mostly unremarkable.

Legend Hand of God

I tried to play this but the lame voice acting scared me away. I’ll get to it at some point, maybe when I have completed every game …in existence…ever.  Massive pass on this, it’s so bad even the box smells

Shadowflare

Shadowflare Japanese take on Diablo. Released episodically in 2000 this game has a couple of great ideas that can’t save it from mediocrity, poor story and butt ugly graphics. You get a dog though, thats cool…or  alternatively you could make Diablo III a little more difficult by trying to keep your Tamagotchi happy during a boss run.

Silverfall

I have never played this game, but it looks like it’s got a mediocre gold standard. If I am mistaken and this game is the shit let me know in the comments.
