Formula 1 Race Weekend Montreal Canada – Celebration 2011

The Race Weekend:

Race weekend in Montreal offers so much for visitors and locals. Hotels are booked months ahead of time. Race weekend is packed with events, street parties, and festivals that entice visitors to Montreal to add to the already huge crowds of F1 fans.

Although severe rains threatened to dampen spirits, Formula 1 Montreal 2011 was a massive success. Rains let up and the race was on. After a grueling 70 laps and over 4 hours of racing Jenson Button drove McLaren-Mercedes to their second 2011 victory. Sebastian Vettel, who has dominated the circuit so far this year with five first place finishes and two runner up spots placed second. The next F1 race will be the European Grand Prix on July 24-26 in Valencia, Italy.

The Music:

This year myETVmedia found just what we were looking for in post daytime activities. Espace Griffintown, was host to a unique warehouse style event on Saturday night. Espace Griggintown is just southwest of the island annexing Montreal’s Old Port. The Saturday night event headlined by Vivi- Ann and Annistasia of ‘Blondish’ and Sharam of ‘Deep Dish’ are the types of special one off events that make Montreal infamous for House and Techno parties… Montreal is definitely where you want to be on F1 weekend.

Montreal F1 Race Weekend Better Than Ever:

From Melbourne Australia to Sao Paulo Brazil the 19th Formula 1 circuit captures not only the spirit of the race enthusiasts but provokes entire cities to celebrate the highest class of single seat racing on the planet. Originating in France in 1894 the “Grand Prix” evolved quickly to formula racing in 1950. It is the fastest endurance race on the planet and still referred to as the ‘Grand Prix’. Only carefully selected tracks and cities have the honor and privilege of being on the ‘Grand Prix’ circuit. In 2005 the Montreal Grand Prix was the third most watched sporting event worldwide and the most watched F1. Canada, unfortunately, despite being a part of the grand prix since 1967, was not included in the 2009 schedule. Montrealers won the day and to everyone’s joy the Montreal Grand Prix returned in 2010, and once again Formula 1 cast its spell over the unique city of Montreal, Canada.
