Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) returns in full neurotic hilarity and bravely stands up for herself to Ray (Alex Karpovsky) with my favourite Shoshanna-sim to date “You hurt my feelings but I can deal with it, I’ve got my big girl pants on”, which results in a almost Hollywood swoon worthy kiss, minus the beer spilling all over the place.
We only catch a glimpse of Jessa (Jemima Kirke), drunkenly laughing and kissing her new husband, played by the hilarious and extremely underrated Chris O’Dowd. All I can hope is that they keep and develop his character, because he is a seriously funny and ahem, haaawt actor.
For me, ‘GIRLS’ gains it’s strength from taking real life and playing it back to you. Like Charlie Chaplin once said “Life is tragedy when seen in close-up, but comedy in long-shot” andGIRLS has returned taking that ‘oh too real version of our lives’ and playing it back in award winning long shot.
