The quality of this release stands above past disc releases. On Blu Ray the picture is bright vibrant and soaked in color, much like the equally impressive Season 3 release. The picture is fantastic on dvd as well, containing perfect black levels and grain that paint the characters and sets in a gritty and real light. The audio is consistent with past disc releases from lions gate and contains the now standard high definition audio and surround sound options. The score for Season four is the best yet and features some classic tracks and artists such as the Beatles as well as the chilling bandstand music that permeated past episodes. The extra features are extremely well done and stand above anything on past releases. A full-length documentary is included that delves into the historical backdrop; it is amazingly well integrated into this set and should not be missed. Aside from the standard commentaries and features one other segment stands out; Don Draper’s guide to business examines Don’s business philosophy and attitude and explains how the writers drew upon true to life experiences and techniques that have been proven (more or less) to be effective.

Mad Men Season Four is excellent and is essential for any fan. This disc Release stands above past entries and includes some amazing extras. Season Five is a ways away and this will have to hold over the hardcore fans like myself until then. In the down time I can also recommend HBO’s fantastic Game Of Thrones.
