Hallowe’en events

It’s the countdown to Hallowe’en and you want to get out and see what’s what. Monsters, goblins and witches, oh my. Many of these are outdoor events and are dependent on the weather.

Silver Snail Party

Saturday October 26th

The Silver Snail has hosted this party for a few years now, and that experience is standing to them. With more than $1500 dollars worth of prizes, spread across two floors, with entertainment by DJs Misty and Dustin of G33KPRON, this is going to be a big one. Tickets must be purchased in advance, limited quantity available. Doors open at Andrew Richards Design at 7.

Rue Morgue Hangman’s ball

Friday October 25th

If you’re looking for something a little darker, try the Hangman’s Ball. Held the night before the Silver Snail party, the Hangman’s Ball will feature music by Tomb Dragomir and Eric Von Eric, with additional entertainment by Dr. Blacks Plastic Surgery Disasters, One Arm Bob: Geek in a Cage and The Violation of Violet, and a cash prize of $1000 dollars in the costume contest. Doors open at Toronto’s Courthouse at 9.

Zombie Walk

Saturday October 26th

Re-enact The Walking Dead with a few thousand people slathered in zombie makeup. Held to raise money for The Heart and Stroke Foundation, it also will feature the cast of Evil Dead the Musical among the shambling hordes, along with music from the Independents. Linnea Quigley leads the hordes as the Grandmaster. The walk gathers at Nathan Phillips Square at noon and departs at 3 PM.

Church St. Halloween Night Block Party

October 31st

The legendary street party, Church street runs from 7 PM to 2 AM. Every bar will be open, the masses will amass, there will be costumes galore –– it’s the big one. Access to the main event is free.

Monster Dash

Sunday October 27th Take part in a fun run in costume to raise funds for Holland Bloorview Kids’ Rehabilitation Hospital.  Run a 5k (6:00) or a 10k (6:30), with a “spooky mile” for kids (5:30). All entrants get commemorative gloves, and whomever raises the most money gets a free flight from Porter Airlines. It’s a night the whole family will remember. Starting line is at Holland Bloorview Children’s Hospital.
