The stainless steel Omega Seamaster watch was first worn by 007 (Pierce Brosnan) in Golden Eye. Bond’s Omega Seamaster is equipped with a laser beam cutterthat helps him escape with Bond girl Natalya from the villainous 006′s ICBM train. Later,Bond’s watch allows him to arm and disarm magnetic mines in 006′s lair. In Tomorrow Never Dies, Bond’s Omega watch was used as a remote detonator.
In The World is Not Enough, Bond’s Omega watch (encased in titanium) is capable of illuminating the inflatable 007 ski jacket and is also equipped with a grappling hook and micro filament cable.
Bond’s original watch described by Ian Fleming was a Rolex submariner. Producers felt that the watch had lost the original intent given it by Author Ian Fleming. He intended the watch to be a symbol of performance and accuracy over status and price. By 1995 theRolex watch had evolved into an international status symbol.
