‘Twas the fourth night of fashion week, and all through the tents, the fashionistas were buzzing about the collection that Target was to present. Rows of chairs were decked out with presents a plenty, and everyone was there, even Stacey McKenzie.
This past October audiences at World MasterCard Fashion Week were whisked away into a winter wonderland during Target’s first runway show #MyKindofHoliday. The Holiday ‘14 Collection was a fun reminder of Canadian holiday fashions so far from the immaculate, yet for Canadian weather now inappropriate S/S’14 collections we were dreamily seeing on the runways otherwise. Not ones to do anything halfway (if you saw WMCFW S/S’13 open bar media lounge you’d know what I was talking about), Target had transformed the stands surrounding the runway into a visual wonder; Chairs were decked out in Target’s latest line of Holiday throws and pillows from their Threshold collection and exclusive ‘Beaver Canoe for Target’ line, front row seats had been replaced with the biggest, comfiest looking arm chairs this side of the ski-lodge and Ken-Dollesque male models drove Target shopping carts down the runway doling out presents to the front row elite.
Leading off the show was supermodel and Maybelline New York spokesmodel, Erin Wasson, decked out in winter appropriate layers and giving some serious star power to Target’s presentation. Compared to the S/S’14 palette of primary colours and pale earth tones, Target’s presentation was really eye catching. The rich Fall colour palette of warm jewel tones and sharp black and white contrasts appeared in everything from youth wear, menswear, kids wear to women’s casual to a more elegant put together evening wear solidifying Target’s aptness for versatility. Jewel tones appeared in colour blocking pea coats and jeans all the way to head to cobalt ensembles that gave some serious ‘you can wear this now’ inspiration. Closing off the night was Erin Wasson, accompanied by Target’s adorable mascot, Bullseye.
