Hearing them talk about sheer scale of worldbuilding in this game, from the thousands of ads to the individual character tics, (someone recognised the actor playing Michael by his walk, because of the massive advances in motion capture) along with the massive team they needed to create the game, is absolutely mindboggling. One interesting thing is that each character has been filmed with a unique filming style. Michael has a more traditional steadycam, Trevor is more frenetic and Franklin is shot in documentary style.
There were also some interesting thoughts about games vs movies, games as art, and the controversies GTA is renowned for. This game continues to insult and poke fun of every available target, including Liberals and Conservatives, in Republican Space Rangers and Impotent Rage. And long may it do so.
GTAV is a definite labour of love for everyone involved. When asked if he could have predicted that games would come so far, in terms of technology and story, Dan Houser simply replied that it was inevitable, and that Rockstar hopes to continue to push the limits of games, in terms of story, gameplay and technical limitations.
Live From Los Santos: The Music of Grand Theft Auto V Concert 70 minutes
One night only in the Church of St. Paul the Apostle just steps from the Lincoln Centre, live music from the open world game Grand Theft Auto V was played by the composers Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson, and Alchemist & Oh No.. More than 20 supporting musicians accompanied the artists to perform selections from the game’s score. This was once in a lifetime opportunity to hear this incredible collaboration combined with art and game visuals providing a completely unique and immersive live experience. Game visuals played behind the bands on a huge screen and the actors were in the audience. Totally memorable!
