Boom Studios: Robocop

Posted 10 years ago by myetvmedia

Boom Studios is booming. Boom Studios is in the RoboCop business and business is good. In addition to “Robocop: Last Stand” Steven Grant’s adaptation of Frank Miller’s script (RoboCop 3) Boom Studios is releasing four new RoboCop one-shot comic issues, all based on the upcoming film remake starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Jay Baruchel and Samuel L. Jackson (released February 12th).

This is insanely good: four anthology-style one-shots fleshing out the world of the new film, brought to you by some of the most skillful pencils in the industry, Ed Brisson (Sheltered), Frank Barbiere (Five Ghosts), Joe Harris (Great Pacific), and Michael Moreci (Hoax Hunters).

RoboCop: Beta, written by Ed Brisson and art from Emilio Laiso, with covers from Greg Smallwood, looks at the first test subjects that came before Alex Murphy and the first steps taken towards man and machine integration.

In RoboCop: Memento Mori, Alex Murphy has to dig deep into his soul before he can control the machine, featuring the talents of Frank J. Barbiere with art from João Vieira and covers by Chris Mooneyham.

Author Joe Harris and artist Piotr Kowalski bring us RoboCop: To Live and Die in Detroit, a tale that sees Robocop proving to be too good at his job. Although the people love him, the corrupt corporate overlords are not so fond of him. Can OCP (Omni Consumer Products Corp) make him fall in line with the way things work?

And finally, in RoboCop: Hominem Ex Machina, Michael Moreci writes a series of successful raids that cripples a portion of Detroit’s criminal activities but when mysteriously RoboCop shuts down and crime rises in his absence, a paralyzed RoboCop must watch his city burn. For the first time, OCP will learn that control is in the hands of the man, not the machine. Jason Copland and Riley Rossmo will provide art and covers respectively.

Expect Boom’s RoboCop one shots to come out the week ahead of the theatre release Feb 12th-14th (CDN & U.S)
