RAMPART

Rampart, the high action police drama, a top favorite at a number of Film festivals, is co written by James LeRoy (LA Confidential) and Oren Moverman (The Messenger) and directed by Moverman. Starring Woody Harrelson and a stellar cast: Ned Beatty, Ben Foster, Anne Heche, IceCube, Cynthia Nixon, Sigourney Weaver, Robin Wright and Steve Buscemi. Moverman once again brings the tough, deep emotional questions that face a man like Dave, a war vet and a cop with a hard head and an inflexible outlook on life, driven by the misconception that everyone else is wrong, straight at us. Woody Harrelson portrays this complicated man, hard to love and harder to understand, with a searing intensity that pulls you into the action and rivets your attention.

Rampart was a Special Presentation TIFF 2011

It is 1999 Los Angeles, Dave Brown (Woody Harrelson) a Vietnam vet and a Rampart Precinct cop is what some might describe as a vigilante. In carrying out his own form of justice he often finds the line blurs between right and wrong. Dave’s world is about to come crashing in when a videotape recording catches him beating a suspect.  When the entire department comes under investigation for the RAMPART scandal, Dave is faced with having to seriously change his ways. Is redemption possible for this man who’s past is not a pretty one and whose future is looking equally dark.

His personal life is a shambles with two ex-wives who are sisters, two daughters, a string of random women, investigators crawling over everything and an aging mentor who’s advise is not what he should be listening to.
