Not being scared of a little snow with your beats is the secret to this festival. Ottawa’s igloofest was truly spectacular and worth checking out even if you attended igloo events in Montréal. This is a unique scene with a similar vibe. The event takes place during the Winterlude festival, which is a combination of music, snow, sport, and art. The music lineup was fitting for the last installment of igloofest presenting only the finest. DJ Niggretzky, representing the local talent, opened the night. Two of Montréal’s favorite prodigy’s, Greg Pidcock (Bad Pony Records) and, Mahere Daniels showed everyone just how hot it can get when they are on the decks. The presence of the Montréal sound was very fitting and the heavy Montréal fan base in the crowed showed the love for both the festival and the hometown djs.

Closing up the night was Philipp Jung, half of the German based Dj Group M.A.N.D.Y. Phillip played at igloofest in 2010 and obviously was not at all chilled on the festival despite the -30 temperature last year in Montréal. M.A.N.D.Y. Has played many festivals and venues internationally including the world famous Love Parade in Germany. Their label “get physical” which is a collaborative effort with Booka Shade and DJ T. has gained international status since its inception.

Phillip showed his love for igloofst Canada and his music when he pleads for 10 more minutes to play at the end of the evening. He gets more time later when he makes an example of what it means to truly love music. Proving he is not just there to collect a paycheck, he makes a surprise appearance at the after party.

In addition to the music stage there was a rail jam for snowboarders and skiers; a break dace stage overlooking the main stage, as well as a dance platform surrounded by fire features. The event was a huge success and is definitely on the myETVmedia agenda for next year and it should be on yours too.

PHILLIP JUNG of M.A.N.D.Y. Interview

We caught up with Phillip after his set for an interview and wound up planning for WWIII. Getting to know Phillip while he unknowingly proved why he is no run of the mill DJ/Producer was quite an entertaining experience. The first thing Phillip did in the interview room was to start joking around. Stating what must be stereotypical to a German “ I have the right to remain silent”. He then proceeded in taping his own mouth shut… It begins to become clear without even asking one question that Phillip’s personality is quite an asset and must play a huge role in his success. Phillips Personality really shines through when he preforms and to convey that presence select photos of the evening in Gatineau Qc, and a sample track from the BODY LANGUAGE COMPILATION have been combined with the interview.
