Joe Fresh’s Swinging 60’s Jackie-O & Mod Inspired Fashion S/S’13

The 60’s are back baby, and nobody does the 2013 Spring/Summer 60’s chic like Canadian designer, Joe Mimran for his label Joe Fresh. Take a look at the highlights from the JOE FRESH WMCFW S/S’13 Collection with its the cross generational and all gender appeal. This will take you right to the heart of the trending 60’s inspired looks that are brightening spring/summer fashions.

Designers like Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, and Moschino have been making headlines with their groovy 60’s inspired Spring/Summer 2013 vibe. However it was Canadian Designer,Joe Mimran; designer and mastermind behind mega-brand, Joe Fresh that set the bar high at WMCFashionWeek in Toronto with the Joe Fresh Spring/Summer 2013 Collection. This collection blew us away with its versatility and cross-generational appeal. From New York to Paris and even in our very own Toronto backyard the 60’s have been dominating the runways and our hearts. Critics like Stacey McKenzie and Jeanne Beker raved about the accessibility of the 60’s mega trend the collection showcased. This trend that will be everywhere once the warmer weather hits. Say hello again to silhouettes that broke every convention. Expect 2013 to be full of Jackie-O and mod inspired shapes, textures and colours, from swinging A-line skirts to boxy jackets and giant buttons.

Legendary Pat Cleveland saucily opened the Joe Fresh WMCFW S/S’13 runway. Psychedelic and optic black and white prints, crisp white everything, boxy jackets and flowy palazzo pants which were all the rage this season glided past us down the runway. A personal favourite was the showcased pantsuit and ‘Mrs. Kennedy worthy’ skirt suits, complete with matching piping and larger than life buttons.  A baby blue herringbone suit with skirt totally won me over, but the metallic cigarette pants and men’s outerwear was the real show stopper of the show.

Small pops of the Joe Fresh signature hue were everywhere, appearing in mustard yellow and neon in small sprinkles, and the Joe Fresh aesthetic was really present. It’s so exciting to see clothes come down the runway and know, once these hit stores I’ll be able to afford them – without breaking the bank. Affordable, amazing fashion?! Thank you Joe Mimran!

This show had a real sense of optimism with the white we will see everywhere. So on trend. This stuff is so accessible, I don’t know how he (Joe Fresh) does it. It’s incredible!”                        -Jeanne Beker
