ORA, by Canadian film director Philippe Baylaucq, is a cutting edge experimental art film that uses some of the most secretive technology to create a visually magnificent story. Supported in the research of this film by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) it is a triumph of mastering a new technology to expand the art of filmmaking.

Baylaucq teams up with Choreographer Jose Navas up to produce this unique film that is truly “a game changer “and “a staggering visual trip into unknown territory. ”TIFF 2011. The filmmakers took time during TIFF to speak with myETVmedia about the techniques and the challenges of making this remarkable film.

Ora presents a story shown in 15 minutes of undulating, beautiful, luminous bodies merging and emerging from a single cell. This is the first film to use 3D thermal imaging which is a technique used by the military. The film really is a very successful and mesmerizing attempt to examine the relationship between the body and its relationship to space.

Philippe Baylaucq has also directed feature films including Hugo and the Dragon (2001), Moving Sands (2003); the documentaries The Magician of Kabul (2008) and Le Cerveau en miroir (2008) and one other short film Lodela (1996).
