Interview with Ivan Cotroneo Director/Screenwriter Kryptonite! Opening Night Film Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) Toronto.

Ivan Cotroneo (I Am Love) talks with myETVmedia about the shift between writing and directing; his experiences working on his own films and writing for other films. He also speaks to his own philosophy of filmmaking, referencing films such as Hitchcock’s Psycho and Cronenberg’s Crash. Cotroneo visited myETVmedia at Pinewood Toronto Studios while in Toronto for the inaugural Italian Contemporary Film Fest ICFF. Kryptonite Nella Borsa (Kryptonite!) is partly based on Ivan’s personal experience as a young boy growing up in Naples. He talks about his very personal and rewarding experience working as a first time director with the cast of Kryptonite and his hopes to work with them all again. He also revealed to us that a highlight of his career has been the opportunity to work with the Dardenne Brothers on the movie The Front Line (La Prima Linea), another Lucky Red production (Italy). Monica Nappo who acts the part of Assunta in Kryptonite!  and is also starring in To Rome with Love as Sofia directed by Woody Allen joined Ivan in Toronto. To Rome With Love is the closing night film for the Toronto Inaugural Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF). Monica joined Ivan for the interviews withmyETVmedia.com. 

Ivan Cotroneo is originally from Naples, Italy. He studied cinema in Rome and is the author of a number of books, TV Series, movie scripts and Kryptonite Nella Borsa (Kryptonite!) is his directorial debut. He is charming, funny and confessed that when he is working on a project he is completely engaged with it, and it constantly runs in his mind. He often writes late at night and is not reclusive at all. When he was young he did wish to have an imaginary friend like Peppino does in the movie Kryptonite! The Inaugural Italian Contemporary Film Festival ICFF is held in Toronto, Canada at TIFF Bell Lightbox and at the AMC Theatres in the City of Vaughan, Canada.
