Grand Theft Auto V NYFF

Not content with just scoring perfect tens across the board, doubling the expected sales and earning 1 billion dollars in three days, Rockstar have decided to expand Grand Theft Auto V into the New York Film Festival.

Updated: check out our photo gallery from the event.

This Sunday, Rockstar will be hosting the panel Visit Los Santos and Blaine County: The World of Grand Theft Auto V. There’s no real details on the official NYFF site which is a bit problematical for some. This initial panel will be moderated by Adam Sessler, will feature select members of the Rockstar team and is about creating the world and the story of GTAV. It will no doubt include debates about the numerous controversies surrounding the series, particularly the latest controversy of the mission By the Book. GTAV features the biggest world of any GTA, apparently large enough to contain all the maps of GTA: San Andreas, GTAIV and Red Dead Redemption all together. Hearing how they did it, the problems encountered, and the decisions made through should no doubt be amazing. The panelists take their seats at 3:30pm at the Francesca Beale Theater.

There will also be Live From Los Santos: The Music of Grand Theft Auto V on Monday, to celebrate the massive range of music used within the series. The concert will feature Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson, and Gangrene, with the Grammy winning Om’Mas Keith as director and conductor for the event. That is not to be missed. The set begins at 9pm in the Church of St. Paul the Apostle.

If you can’t make those, there will also be a free event on Tuesday in the Elin Bunin Munroe Film Center, that will feature all the musicians and will be moderated by Ryan Schreiber. GTAV has the largest soundtrack of any game thus far, covering almost every genre you can think of and a few I can guarantee you’ve never heard of, so this is not to be missed.

Tickets went on sale this morning, you can buy tickets for Visit Los Santos and Blaine County: The World of Grand Theft Auto V here and tickets for Live From Los Santos: The Music of Grand Theft Auto V here. Remember, the third event is free.
