2013 is already a year for eye catching Fashion trends and fashion house shake ups. Here are the early trends to look for:
Balenciaga + Alexander Wang = Hearts
When Nicolas Ghesquiere made his hasty move away from Balenciaga in November and Alexander Wang was announced as the newest creative director the internet world went wild. Wang, whose “Slouchy street style” sensibilities have built his reputation, is said to move the House into a more current, and urban connected direction. Wang’s 2013 collection will debut during Paris Fashion Week in February.
Sixties are the new ‘black’
The sixties are back, baby. From Louis Vuitton’s bow adorned bee-hives and checkered swinging mod dress in Paris all the way to legendary Pat Cleveland sashaying down the runway for Joe Fresh in Toronto. The 60’s are back and better than ever. Expect to see mod inspiration everywhere from silhouettes to make-up and hair.
Sweet Schiaparelli lives again.
The Schiaparelli fashion house that closed it’s doors in the mid 50’s is being brought back to life by Diego Della Valle, the man behind the famous brand Tod’s. Delays have been made to the label’s debut while the role of creative director has yet to be filled. It’s been rumoured that the position could go to former Balenciaga director, NicolasGhesquiere or London- based, Erdem Mogliglu.
To Die Fur
Thanks for Miu Miu’s impeccable Spring/Summer ’13 collection shown at Paris Fashion week. Neutral colour furs are about to boom across the fashion world. Faux or not, the tie-die fur look is going to be everywhere.
Bye Bye Ghessy
Nicolas Ghesquiere is stepping down from Balenciaga in November was a little. It was heart breaking, but now we’re enjoying playing the “Where will Ghessy go now?” game. Maybe over to Chanel to let dear ol’ Karl retire?
Spring Fever
Fresh Colour Palettes have us jonesing for the warmer weather. With Spring comes renewal and what better way to start fresh than a palette of fresh creams, minty greens and baby blues. This Spring’s trending colours are reminiscent of a baby bunny and a breath of fresh air. Adorable, fresh, light and on our gotta have list.
Cut-it-out
Geometric cuts-out have been reigning supreme working their way from the runway to the red carpet and back again. From Gwyneth Paltrow rocking the black cut-out Michael Kors number at the Golden Heart Gala to daring leather body suits from Paco Rabanne’s Spring/ Summer’13 collection this is one trend that will seen showing it’s inspiration across all styles.
