Nick Verreos At FIDM
Nick Verreos takes us on a special ‘behind the scenes’ look at the work that goes into creating fashion for films that have won Oscar Nomination at this year’s 84th Academy Awards. The FIDM has a feature show of the costumes from the 5 Oscar Nominated Films: The Artist, W.E., The Help, Hugo and Jane Eyre. Admission to the FIDM museumis totally free and an experience not to miss in LA.
Nick is a respected American fashion designer and best known for his involvement on Season 2 of Project Runway (Nick was a contestant and a finalist). An alumni and teacher at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) Nick is well versed in all things Oscars, having hosted Academy Awards fashion segments on E!, as well as on the TV Guide Network.
Nick has designed gowns for Desperate Housewives cast member Brenda Strong and Marlee Matlin worn at the 2008 Academy Awards. He appeared as a talent scout in the premier for ‘Project Runway’ Season 3, guest mentored on ‘Project Runway’ Canada and recently attended the ‘Oscars of Costume Design’ the 14th annual Costume Designers Guild as the Spokesperson for FIDM.
The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising or FIDM is a private college dedicated to educating students for the fashion, entertainment, beauty, interior design and graphic design industries. FIDM could be considered the school of ‘Project Runway’ having nine graduates appear on the popular show. The FIDM has also fostered an impressive alumnus that includes Nick Verreos, Lauren Conrad, Karen Kane, Co-founder of Juicy Couture; Pamela Skaist and ‘Enchanted’ costume designer Mona May.
