World MasterCard Fashion Week is about fashion, fun and business. The runways hold the carefully guarded secrets to next season’s fashion looks. What will be the ‘fashion must haves’, can we spot the big trends? WMCFW is expanding, becoming a bigger national and international spotlight for Canadian Fashion and boosting the image of the fashion industry and the talent behind it. Fueling the excitement are collaborations with industry, fashion schools, and business.

Fashion Awards:

DHL Fashion Challenge has launched an exciting new fashion competition with George Brown College to inspire and reward new, young creativity. Three George Brown College students were awarded scholarships for their winning couture creations designed from DHL packing and shipping materials. Nagalakshmi Deepak received first place for her design, shown centre below.

CAFA the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards has announce the national finalists and will host their gala for the winners at the Fairmont Royal York, Toronto in Feb. See Finalists here.

Mercedes-Benz Start Up Challenge saw the 2013 Finale group runway show and winners announced. Exceptional designs made the decision very tough and the judges decided to award 2 finalists. See winner and full runway and runway pictures here.

Mercedes-Benz Start Up, Canada’s premier program to discover and mentor emerging fashion designers, will host its third annual group finale runway show featuring the Spring/Summer 2014 Collections from eight finalists: Dreamboat Lucy, Malorie Urbanovitch, Matiére Noire, Pedram Karimi, HIP AND BONE, Eliza Faulkner, HD Homme and Faded Lifestyle.
