PlayStation Holiday Event 2011

Posted 12 years ago by myetvmedia

Sony Canada held its Playstation Holiday Preview at the Liberty Grand, Exhibtion Place, Toronto, Canada. Sony Canada was joined by other participants including Activision, Bethesda, Capcom, Disney, Konami, EA, Namco, Sega, THQ, Ubisoft, Warner and many more.

As promised the PlayStation event was full of outstanding games with the hottest titles for PS3, PlayStation Vita and 3D Gaming display. myETVmedia, other invited media and hardcore facebook fans had VIP invitations with exclusive access to play the games and try out the hardware before they hit the shelves for the holiday season. For that alone it was worth the trip.

Highlights included:

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, what can I say, I love Drake’s adventures and cannot wait to put my hands on it. It definitely lives up to expectations.

Resistance 3, is an alien shooter game and if you are in the mood of saving the world from Aliens then this one is for you.

With few days away from being launched (Oct 18th) Everybody Dance this party game was a welcome site after sitting for few hours with a game control in my hands. Truly this high-energy party game was fun with it’s motion controller and an Eye camera, you have everything that you need to dance 40 tracks of authentic music videos from top artists like Usher, LMFAO, Duck Sauce. My legs are still feeling this work out.

Other games like Twisted Metal to be released on Feb 14th 2012 featuring Dollface in all her creepy glory, and it also gave me a taste of it’s new vehicles such as the Juggernaut, as well as weapons like Meat Grinder and the Murder Balls. Delightful!

Journey was also there, no release date yet. The game is totally different from any other online adventure games I have seen. You will probably like it if you are thirsty for mysterious games.

Racket & Clank: All 4 One (October 18th) an attracting game if you are bored to play alone.

We can’t forget hardware, PlayStation Vita was there. To be released in Japan and parts of Asia on December 17, and in Europe and North America early 2012. The Handheld includes two analog sticks, a 5 inch OLED multi touch capacitive touchscreen, and supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and optionally 3G. This device, also known by its codename Next Generation Portable (NGP for short) will be available to you for $250 to $300 depending if it comes fully loaded with Wi-Fi + 3G or with Wi-Fi only. The PS Vita will only be able to download games up to 20MB in size as a result of the same 3G mobile carrier restrictions that prevent users from downloading large games or movies to their cell phones. Of course, Vita owners will still be able to download games larger than 4GB using the system’s Wi-Fi functionality.

The 3D gaming was an interesting display, but Sony’s 3D personal CD viewer was infernal, what a toy! Well at $699 a pop it should be.

Quite a few third party publishers were also showcasing their brand and hottest games. Activation, Bethesda, Capcom, Disney, Konami, EA, Namco, Sega, THQ, Ubisoft, Warner to name a few.

Clearly there was much fun to be at the PlayStation Party they definitely delivered with great titles, live music and a solid day of gaming. Make sure you keep a lookout for the next event like this and get on the list. It is really worth it.
