Identity Festival is shaping up to be the hidden gem of Toronto’s EDM festival season. It might not be on the same scale as Digital Dreams or Veld, but Identity has something very special going for it: headliner Eric Prydz. It’s not everyday that the Swedish icon graces North American shores and when he does it should not be missed.

Here are the three main reasons to check out Identity Toronto:

Eric Prydz

Over the last couple years the progressive house market has become over saturated with generic sounding tracks that follow the same simple chord progressions. While this has led to mainstream success for certain artists (see Calvin Harris), it has turned off many dance enthusiasts. Fortunately, Eric Prydz hasn’t fallen into that trap.

Prydz continues to release beautifully constructed productions full of originality and at 35, the Swedish wonder is showing no signs of slowing down. Earlier this year Prydz released his debut studio album, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda. The three-disc album is a mixture of old and new material and a definite must have for any EDM lover. Stand out tracks include Allein and Agag, but the whole album is worth a listen.
