5 Acts to See at WEMF 2012

Posted 11 years ago by myetvmedia

The 16th annual WEMF- World Electronic Music Festival is back! Over three glorious days (Aug 17,18,19) South Algonquin with be filled with the sound of electronic music, happy campers, sun worshippers and all night dancing. Here are 5 Acts that we’re gearing up for. We could have made an honourable mention to electronic heavy hitters like The Crystal Method, Infected Mushroom, Zeds Dead and Moby, but chances are if you’re ready geared for WEMF you’re already clued in to who those guys are.

Narrowing down a “must see guide” to a reasonable sized list was almost impossible since all three days are completely jammed packed with something for everyone, however we tried. Apologies now for leaving out anyone awesome, or seriously awesome – send us a note with your thoughts.

Adventure Club

If it wasn’t enough that the young duo of Christian Srigley and Leighton James have created bouncy, sexy remixes of songs from my adolescence; Metric, Brand New, Thrice and Yeah Yeah Yeahs to name a few, they’re also Canadian. OH CANADA! Hailing from Montreal the energetic Adventure Club puts on one hell of a show, and underneath their catchy melodic samples lies a sincerely developed sense of production which has led to their fast-moving success (and slew of EP releases) since their formation last year. Catch them on Saturday at the Tower of Destiny.

Two Fresh

If you’re craving a fresh music scene than look no further than Two Fresh, comprised of twin brothers, Kendrick and Sherwyn Nicolls their live performance includes the addition of drummer, Colby Buckler. Mixing in the flavours of samples, synth and hip-hop their music may be defined as “electro” but it’s so much more.  Catch them on Friday on the Time Stage.

Chase and Status

Chase and Status aka Will Kennard and Saul Milton are what we like to call the heavy hitters of the game. When artists like Snoop Dogg, Jay Z , Pharrell Williams and Rihanna sing your praises that qualifies you to have something to brag about. Enthusiastically supported by Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Zane Lowe,Chase and Status have been blown up and their supernova status isn’t going anywhere. Recent collabs with Dizzee Rascal, White Lies and Cee Lo Green have us counting down the minutes until their set at WEMF. If they drop this Mac Miller Remix of their track, we’ll flip.
