Women in Canadian Film get new honors. On September 11th, 2013 Telefilm Canada in partnership with Maison Birks paid tribute to ten female directors and actors at the inaugural Birks Diamond Tribute to the Year’s Women in Film. The event was part of TIFF the Toronto International Film Festival 2013. In 2012, the inaugural Birks Canadian Diamond was awarded during Telefilm Canada’s Tribute to Canadian Talent event at the Cannes Film Festival.
Birk’s Diamond Tribute, held in Toronto at its flagship Maison Birk’s Store on Bloor St West, drew in some of Canada’s finest film industry talents including honorees Deepa Mehta, Sarah Gadon and Louise Archambault. We headed to the Red Carpet to catch up with Canada’s brightest to talk about women and their roles in film and television.
