Aerial Dancers Whirl Down the LTower Facade

Posted 11 years ago by myetvmedia

The crowd gasped as spotlights swirled up to the top of the LTower to reveal 5 dancing acrobats descending down the facade in beautifully choreographed configurations to the music of Bach. Toronto cellist Liza McLellan played from the base of the Tower 205 meters below. Vancouver-based Aeriosa Dance Society had rehearsed the show the night before to the astonishment of onlookers. A secret to most until the topping off party for the LTower on Oct. 10th, 2012, 350 guests marvelled at Aeriosa’s poetic performance while sipping on electric blue LTini’s, champagne and gourmet cuisine at Oliver and Bonacini.

Starchitect Daniel Libeskind, his wife and partner Nina and members of Studio Daniel Libeskind joined VIP guests all of whom had participated in bringing the LTower vision to reality. Architects, engineers, planners, city politicians, the developers, community leaders, artists, landscape and interior designers, the construction team and financiers came together to celebrate. The 285 million dollar LTower project has resulted in the preservation of The Sony Centre, breathing new life into this cultural centre for the Arts designed by acclaimed Canadian Architect Peter Dickinson.

The development group for the LTower consists of Castlepoint Realty Partners Ltd., Cityzen Group and Fernbrook Homes. Kicking off the celebrations as Master of Ceremonies Alfredo Romano, President of Castlepoint Realty Partners Ltd., who has nurtured the project from its inception introduced Michael Thompson, Toronto City councilor, Chair of Toronto’s Economic Development and Culture Committee.

Councillor Thompson warmly applauded the monumental work and great cooperative efforts by everyone involved with the project. He presented a plaque from Mayor Rob Ford and the City Councillors to development partner Danny Salvatore, President Fernbrook Homes accepting on behalf of the Development group. Sam Crignano of Cityzen Development Group was taking a rare holiday in Europe and was absent but present were partners Ronnie Faust and Chi and Robert Cheung. Also present for the celebration were Cityzen partners Joe Cordiano and Paulo Stellato.

The evening was dedicated to Michael Comstock, a tireless community advocate and member of the St. Lawrence Market BIA. A key community participant on the LTower project, Michael has just passed away but leaves a strong legacy of leadership in community building.
