Director Zack Synder (300, Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead) brings a new thriller to the screen packed with action and a heavy dose of fantasy. The sound track for the trailer is incredible. “Panic Switch” by the Silversun Pickups opening with Led Zepplin “When the Levee Breaks” will keep interest intense. The story is complete action fantasy and thoroughly empowering with Emily Browning (Baby Doll) emerging as the hot young star at its centre.

Baby Doll’s evil stepfather has locked her away in a mental asylum where she faces the horrible possibility of being forced to undergo a lobotomy in a few days. Can she escape this frightening and terrible fate? She escapes to a world of imagination where she and four other female inmates; Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish), Rocket (Jena Malone), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens) and Amber (Jamie Ghung) plot an escape from the asylum. The asylum is run by Madam Gorski, (Carla Gugino) and High Roller (Jon Hamm). The girls, led by Baby Doll enter a fantastical world where they have to carry out strategic warefare against every imaginable foe from serpents to samurai and dragons. They have special help from Wise Man (Scott Glenn) who will help them on this high tension, high action, fight for freedom. How true to reality does this story come? This movie is an epically visual film and one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

The movie is based on a story by Steve Shibuya and Zack Snyder and took five years to complete. It is a remarkable combination of drama, fantasy and hyper-reality that puts a new face on determination, of mind over matter and empowerment. It also reveals the dark side of institutionalization. Zack Synder is currently directing the new Superman movie “Superman: Man of Steel.”
