While the film’s action is tense the dialogue can become lengthy. If you’re not the type to enjoy wordy films skip this one. Anyone expecting a fun caper like Ocean’s 11 or Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels will probably be disappointed and a little disturbed. For someone who wants to see a more realistic representation of the criminal world and perhaps feel a little better about their desk job, Killing Them Softly might do the trick. Just remember it’s serious stuff and despite a few laughs it’s not much fun.
Killing Them Softly is an Annapurna Pictures co-production and was an entry at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Let’s not forget it is also one of several films that has put Megan Ellison, owner of Annapurna Pictures, in the spotlight in the high stakes film biz.
