#4 – You Know My Name
Chris Cornell has never been a big Fan of the Bond Series, but when Sony Pictures President of Music Lia Vollack invited him to create the main theme song for the 2006 installment “Casino Royale”, he felt surprised, honored, and intrigued. The fact that the series was taking a new turn with Daniel Craig at the helm and Sony insistence of featuring a male singer in what was a predominantly a female dominated role (Nancy Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, etc) made him agree to compose and perform the main song. He then met legendary Bond score composer David Arnold (score for five James Bond, Stargate, Independence day, Godzilla). Both agreed to come up with their own version. At the end Cornell wrote most of the lyrics, to which Arnold added some lines and later the music.
