#1: Jetpack Thunderball (1965) Sean Conner
After an extended brawl with (and the subsequent murder of) Col. Duvall in the opening sequence of the 1965 Thunderball, Bond escapes Duvall´s henchmen on a balcony by taking off with a jetpack and returning to his car, the Aston Martin DB5. The jetpack used in the movie was developed by Bell Aerosystems and called the Bell Rocket Belt. It only had a 20 second flying time and used hydrogen peroxide fuel. The scenes in Thunderball were shot using two stuntmen and the shrill sound of the jets was overdubbed with the sound of a fire extinguisher. This is one of the coolest ever and very forward thinking gadgets.
