Jet Li returns to the screen in a new high action, 3D screen version of an old, much loved Chinese fairytale, ‘Legend of The White Snake’. The martial arts movie is epic in scale and utilizes the latest CGI effects. Directed by Ching Siu-tung and starring Eva Huang and Vivian Hsu, Shengyi Huang the movie premiered at the Venice Film Festival with Jet Li, the director and members of the cast on hand at the Press Conference and Red Carpet.

This is the tale of a young scholar (Raymond Lam) who falls in love with a beautiful woman who is actually a demon. In her demon form she becomes a huge, deadly snake (Eva Huang). A monk Fahai (Jet Li) intervenes to save the scholar and to cast the demon into a deep well at the Leifeng Pagoda. Other characters in the movie include the Green Snake (Charlene Choi). The action is fast paced and there is a great deal of it. Jet Li found it to be one of the most challenging roles he has played because of these action scenes.

Jet Li says they are particularly interested in attracting a worldwide audience to this movie and have gone to a great deal of expense on international promotion. The story is an important Chinese legend that has the same significance as fairytales such as Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast.
