WMCFashion Week Unzipped: Mackage

Posted 11 years ago by myetvmedia

Mackage, the fashion line created by the Montreal design duo Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan, has been in our spotlight for the Toronto WMCFW.  Pioneers in creating outerwear that is silhouette flattering instead of bulky and shapeless, we were eager to see their latest creations for S/S2013. (see below)

Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan have raised the bar again and released yet another immaculate ready to wear men’s and women’s Mackage S/S13 collection. They have brought a rejuvenated and invigorating take on the Mackage signature “leather everything” design aesthetic prominent in a number of collections duringWorldMasterCard Fashion WeekMackage reminds us that fashion and interior design go hand in hand. Caesarstone, luxury counter top specialists and an official sponsor of the week, collaborated with Mackage for accessories that were inspired from their Supernatural line. Chunky, urban cool and utterly drool-worthy accessories complimented the Mackage leathers.

Mackage presented an exciting world of colour on the runway with pops of juicy highlighter yellows, pastel blues, minty hues, romantic dusty rose, sienna browns, and “creme de la” creams that all were presented with luxurious wear-ability. It was a colour palette that was refreshingly fun and energizing and different from the metallics, pure pastels and sherberts we kept seeing during WMCFW. It was also a serious step away from the black, cream and nude palette we saw in Mackage’s S/S12 collection. For a brand that knows leather and summer never mix well, high waisted leather shorts, crop tops and vests were a clever and potent take on the “Spring” vibe.

Colours, collabs and old trends turned new made this the most invigorating show of the week

We saw incredibly structured reinventions of military uniform trends and moto jackets in menswear; a Mackage staple with an unexpected colour twist. Leather shorts and preppy buttons ups with that potent yellow detailing were looks we’re still trying to get over. A little number that reinvented the letterman jacket with leather men’s capris was a personal favourite, and minty ombre dips were everywhere.

Dusty Rose coloured jackets, sexy cigarette pants done in leather and Mackage-esk large front panels were abundant and I’m officially obsessed with cropped moto vests over a classic trench coat. Speaking of trench coats - Mackage has done it in a mint green. Embossed detailing was all the rage and we saw it in every shape and form from simplistic detailing on moto jackets to highlighted pops on the shoulder and biceps of one incredible men’s outerwear piece that stole the show, and our hearts.

The perfect coat becomes the outfit in itself”- Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan
