Celebrating Contemporary Italian Filmmakers

Time to celebrate summer with the best of Italian cinema and culture and the most exclusive after parties in Toronto. The Italian Contemporary Film Festival puts it all together; the parties, the filmmakers, the movies, celebrity guests, great music, great food from June 12th to June 20th. Movies will be screened concurrently in Toronto, Vaughan, Hamilton and Montreal. The Film Festival opens June 12th with the highly acclaimed romantic thriller “THE BEST OFFER” (La Migliore Offerta), directed by Giuseppe Tornatore starring Geoffrey Rush, Jim Sturgess, Sylvia Hoeks and Donald Sutherland. The film has won 17 international awards.

Opening Party

A grand, Opening Party with be held once again at Toronto’s Ritz Carlton Hotel following the TIFF Lightbox screening. Legendary Casa Loma with its spectacular gardens and magical views of the city by night will be the site of the Closing Party, June 20th. following a screening of the comedy the comedy ‘STAY AWAY FROM ME’.

Providing the music are two of Toronto’s best djs, DJTakin and DJRob Lambert. Both after parties have open bars and as part of Ontario’s Italian Heritage Month celebrations, amazing food. DJTaKin is a celebrated Canadian artist, producer, radio host and entertainer.

Closing Party

The Closing night movie ‘STAY AWAY FROM ME’ (Stai lontana da me) from director Enrico Brignano. This is an hilarious comedy about a man who is a brilliant marriage counsellor and hopeless with his own romantic entanglements. Party under the stars in the new glass garden gazebo at Casa Loma. Enjoy an open bar, fantastic food and dance the night away.

Pinewood Toronto Studios:

Other highlights of the Italian Contemporary Film Festival include the Film Industry/Market day hosted by Pinewood Toronto Studios. The day will consist of a private tour of the Pinewood Toronto Studios, lunch, presentations by featured guest speakers and professional networking.

Pinewood Toronto Studios is the location where many major motion pictures have recently been made including Pacific Rim, The Vow and Maps to The Stars. The day wraps with a ticket to the North American premiere of SOTTO UNA BUENA STELLA at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

Celebrated Guests:

The celebrated Italian filmmaker Carlo Verdone is a special guest of the Festival this year. Verdone starred in The Great Beauty, which captured this year’s Oscar for the Best Foreign Film. Carlo was a member of the jury for the Venice Film Festival in 1994 and the director, actor, screenwriter over the past decade for a number of highly successful Italian movies which speak to the anguishes and neurosis of Italian modern man. Director Enrico Brignano will also be in attendance along with many of the industry’s elite and Toronto’s trend setters.
