Rock band U2 brought their incredible 360° Tour to the Roger’s Centre, Toronto this July en route from Montreal. It was stupendous. The stage centers around a massive 360 degree spaceship with its now infamous “Claw” structure. The Claw houses the speaker system and a huge cylindrical video screen. There is a circular ramp around the stage area connecting the stage by a system of rotating bridges. It allows for amazing and very elaborate lighting effects. A full time tour crew of 137 people plus another 120 hired supplemental crew are necessary to get the show up and operating.

The U2 360° has become the highest-grossing concert tour beating out even the Rolling Stones. Sold out city after city to capacity audiences and no wonder!

It was a perfect warm, summer evening. The sky dome was open and the evening sky added to the audiovisual magic. Outside the CN Tower lit a vivid light upwards to the stars where at one point in the performance an astronaut on the space station joined in to sing “Beautiful Day”.

The concert was meant to impress, move and provoke. It did all this and more.
