Digital Dreams Music Festival Toronto,
June 29th and 30th 2013 Flats @ M.C.A.

Digital Dreams will be Toronto’s biggest outdoor electronic summer music event and party. Here are the top three reasons to get a festival pass:

1. Fantastic Location

Digital Dreams is Toronto’s first 2 day electronic music festival. It will take place at the sprawling Flats @ Molson Canadian Amphitheatre amongst the ghostly remnants of Ontario Place. In my opinion this is the best large-scale outdoor concert venue in Toronto. There is lots of space, fantastic views of the Toronto Skyline and nothing beats being on Lake Ontario to enjoy a sunset.

2. Something for Everyone

The two-day festival lineup includes over 40 DJ’s that run the gamut of electronic music. Different styles are loosely grouped amongst three stages:

The House of Boom caters to darker bass heavy music with some big names like Doctor P and Excision.

The Dreams Stage plays host to most of the mainstream acts including Tiesto, Wolfgang Gartner and Porter Robinson.

The Echo Beach Stage has most of the techno, minimal and deep house acts. For my taste this offers the best acts of the festival and I won’t be straying very far from the artificial beach during the two-day event. The stage will feature legends like Richie Hawtin (A.K.A. Plastikman), Dubfire, Steve Lawler, and Slovenian techno King, Umek,. Local acts like Nitin and the world renowned Art Department will help keep the Canada Day Weekend spirit strong.

3. Luciano

Echo Beach Stage, Saturday 9pm

I have a few complaints about the format and price of the festival but this one DJ alone is worth the price of admission for me.

Luciano is an artist in the truest sense. The Chilean DJ/Producer is the head of the influential Cadenza music label and the mastermind behind the world famous Vagabundos parties. Luciano’s passion for music and its ability to connect people has always been the focus of his exploits and despite his success he remains humble.

Luciano constructs his sets on the fly layering high tempo Latin percussion, tropical grooves, euphoric melodies and basically whatever he wants. He never loses the connection with his audience and feeds off their energy throughout the set. The result is often magical and always unique.
